NURFC a club with a long history.
We now exist as a social club formed from past NURFC players and like minded people. We aim to preserve the club history and to take the club to it's 100th Anniversary and beyond.
Founded in 1931 and survived as a full playing rugby union football club until 2023.

Norwich Union RFC was formed in 1931 as a company side representing the Norwich Union Insurance Group. The company provided sports facilities (Pinebanks) and some financial support. You had to be an employee of the company to represent the club.
In later years the rules were relaxed and whilst you still needed to be an employee to hold an official position within the club up to 4 non Norwich Union employees could play for each team.
In 2008 the club moved grounds from Pinebanks to Sprowston

As the financial climate changed the ties with the Norwich Union Insurance Group were eventually broken in 2008 when Norwich Union withdrew all financial support for sports clubs and Pinebanks closed. Through the hard work of members at the time, the club moved to a new ground at Barkers Lane Sprowston. They adopted a new club logo/badge but continued to use the same name.
